Oat Plus 23 is a palatable blend of high grade oat bran powder with minimum 20% beta-glucan, oat flour with about 4%-5% beta glucan and Inulin (Chicory Root Extract), a superior prebiotic, developed specially for health-conscious individuals who want to live life to the fullest. It is fortified with Co enzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone) a powerful antioxidant found throughout the body especially in the heart, liver, kidney, and pancreas and is used by the body to transform food into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy on which the body runs.

A daily intake (2 servings) of Oat Plus 23 provides 3.76g of high molecular weight oat beta glucan. On its own, Beta Glucan’s effectiveness in lowering total and LDL cholesterol has been clinically proven and acknowledged by world renowned authorities such as FDA (US Food and Drug Administration), EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) and MOH (Ministry of Health), Malaysia. According to these acclaimed bodies, 3g per day of beta glucan can help to reduce cholesterol.

A daily intake (2 servings) of Oat Plus 23 also contains 5.4g of Chicory Root Extract (Inulin), a premium and preferred prebiotic. Though the insoluble fibers in oat bran and oat flour do have some prebiotic effects, they are mild compared to Inulin which works faster and better in restoring intestinal flora balance. That is why MOH, Malaysia approves the claim ‘Inulin is prebiotic’ or ‘Inulin is bifidogenic’ for food with minimum 1.25g of Inulin per serving .

Promoting intestinal flora balance and enhancing gut probiotics are important because many studies have shown that probiotics can help to lower cholesterol levels too, besides the many benefits such as better nutrient absorption, stronger immune system etc.

The addition of Co Q10 to Oat Plus 23, takes the “cholesterol fight” a step further. Cholesterol is feared because too much of it can lead to the build-up of plaque in the blood vessels and block blood flow. This can lead to increased risks of developing CHD (Coronary Heart Disease), heart attack, stroke and other CVDs (cardio-vascular diseases). Studies have indicated that blood lipids and cholesterol oxidised by free radicals, tend to settle on the blood vessel wall and ultimately form plaque leading to atherosclerosis. CoQ10 being a powerful lipid-soluble antioxidant can neutralize the free radicals and prevent them from oxidizing the lipids and cholesterol, thus preventing plaque formation.

   Chicory Root Powder (Prebiotic)

  •   Oat Bran - Imported from the USA

  •   Beta Glucan - Prevents the absorption of exogenous cholesterol (cholesterol from food) and the re-absorption of cholesterol-like substances in bile. It also "forces” the body to use up more cholesterol to produce new bile.

  •   CoQ10 - prevents the oxidation of LDL Cholesterol and consequently plaque formation and helps the cellular powerhouse, mitochondria, to burn fuel (calories) more effectively.

  •   Inulin (Prebiotic) - Enhances the growth of probiotics and promotes intestinal flora balance. The exact mechanism(s) by which probiotics lower cholesterol levels is /are still under investigation. Several mechanisms that have been hypothesized which include enzymatic deconjugation of bile acids by bile-salt hydrolase of probiotics, assimilation of cholesterol by probiotics, co-precipitation of cholesterol with deconjugated bile, cholesterol binding to cell walls of probiotics, incorporation of cholesterol into the cellular membranes of probiotics during growth, conversion of cholesterol into coprostanol and production of short-chain fatty acids upon fermentation by probiotics in the presence of prebiotics.
